Armenia's Ruling Party to Investigate Visitation Ban on Aregnaz Manukyan and Her Minor Daughter

During a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly, Lilit Minasyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction, addressed several pressing issues. Among them was the restriction placed on Aregnaz Manukyan's right to visit her minor child amid an ongoing criminal investigation.

The Visitation Ban on Aregnaz Manukyan

According to Minasyan, she is not familiar with the specific details of the criminal case filed against Manukyan. However, she emphasized that she views the issue through the lens of women's rights protection and intends to request relevant information from the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

"I am not aware of the details of the criminal case, but we will inquire with the law enforcement system regarding the issue of visitation bans," the MP stated, as reported by Factor.am.

Parliamentary Processes and Political Culture

Touching upon the appointment of committee heads in the National Assembly, Minasyan informed that the ruling faction will make a final decision during its session only after hearing from all candidates and reviewing their sector-specific approaches.

The lawmaker also highlighted the importance of eliminating hate speech and political polarization within the parliament, stressing the need to foster a new political culture. Citing the example of Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, who recently apologized for his actions, she noted that opposition members never apologize for their offensive remarks. Minasyan added that the government's new program will be entirely based on the realistic pre-election promises made by their political force.
