Automated E-Gate Systems to Launch at Armenia's Zvartnots Airport

On August 17, Armenia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, and the Deputy Director of the National Security Service (NSS), Davit Sanamyan, inspected the ongoing infrastructure development for electronic checkpoints (e-gates) at Zvartnots International Airport. The officials reviewed the installation and maintenance of the new equipment and discussed strategies to ensure the system operates without interruption.

How the New E-Gate System Works

The upcoming contactless system at Armenia's border crossings will function with biometric passports. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the e-gate technology ensures automated passenger identification without the need for human border guards. This upgrade is expected to significantly cut down processing times and speed up the passport scanning procedure for international travelers.

New Migration and Citizenship Office in Yerevan

Later that day, Minister Sargsyan visited a shopping center in Yerevan, which will house a new branch of the Migration and Citizenship Service. With construction and technical outfitting nearing completion, the minister emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to the planned deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards, issuing additional operational directives.

The design and construction of these modern service centers are being managed by the "HayPass" company. An official police statement noted that the new facility will operate on a "single-window" principle. This streamlined approach aims to reduce bureaucratic delays, prevent long queues, and ultimately save time for citizens and foreign visitors alike.
