Armenia Leads the Eurasian Economic Union in Passenger and Freight Transport Growth

According to data for the first half of 2026, Armenia has achieved significant growth within its transportation sector. A recent report published by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)—the regulatory body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)—highlights that the country now holds a leading position among the member states of this regional economic bloc.

Passenger Traffic Dynamics

Over the first six months of the year, overall passenger traffic across the EAEU increased by a modest 0.5%. However, according to EEC data, the highest national growth rate was recorded in Armenia. The performance across member states is distributed as follows:

• Armenia: 7.3%
• Belarus: 7.2%
• Kazakhstan: 5.1%
• Kyrgyzstan: 4.9%

This positive trend in passenger traffic is heavily corroborated by corporate data. Specifically, financial analytics platform TipRanks reported that Corporación América Airports experienced a notable increase in passenger numbers in July 2026. This surge was primarily driven by strong international traffic and the robust performance of its operations in Armenia.

Freight and Cargo Volumes

The reporting period also saw notable expansion in freight transportation, a category where Armenia once again secured the top spot. The EAEU countries reported the following growth rates in cargo volumes:
